News Roundup August 16

New faces around our school:

A HUGE welcome to teacher aides, Mrs Debbie Cameron and Ms Maria Jaramillo, who are replacing Megan Hale while she is on her practicum for the next three weeks. Debbie has extensive experience as a teacher-aide in an International School in Zurich, and Maria  is also working as an English  an Additional Language aide at Kelvin Grove College.
An equally HUGE welcome to Miss Lauren Neilson, who will be completing her fourth practicum and Internship  with Mrs  Annette Somerville.  This will be the last step for Lauren before qualifying as a registered teacher.

Promoting high expectations for student behaviour:

Last year, the staff reviewed the school’s Responsible Behaviour Plan.  This plan was endorsed by the P&C Association at the end of 2012. As part of this process, we revised our school rules, deciding on three key rules:
  • Be safe
  • Be responsible
  • Be respectful
These rules are displayed across the school and in classrooms, along with individual class rules.  The rules are also revised weekly at assembly. Our students all know these rules, and demonstrate daily, their knowledge of what it means to be safe, responsible and respectful. We appreciate the support from our parents and school community in helping us to continue to promote our school rules and high expectations for student behaviour.

Prep Enrolments for 2014 - due now!

If you have a child eligible for Prep in 2014, please ensure that you have picked up an enrolment form from our office, or have downloaded one from our website. We ask that you return these forms to our school office with a birth certificate. This helps us to plan our staffing arrangements for next year. If you have a neighbour who is turning 5 by June 30, 2014, please let us know so we can arrange for an enrolment pack to be sent to their home.
