Make sure you keep up to date with what is going on around the school by “liking” us on Facebook (Brisbane Central State School) , “following” us on Twitter (@Bris_Cent_SS), and making us a favourite through the QSchools app (available for free  through the iTunes Store or Google Play). It is now easier than ever to stay in touch.

Prep Open Day:

It was wonderful to welcome our new students and their families to Brisbane Central State School on Thursday for the Prep Open Morning. Many of our new students had such a great morning that they were reluctant to leave!  While our students explored their new learning environment , our  new parents had the opportunity to join a school tour, purchase uniforms and complete paperwork. My thanks to Darren Waugh, Jan McKean and Jenny Gilmour for their hard work preparing for the day,  and to our parents who ran the uniform shop- Sarah, Cecilia, Ria and Pocharathorn.

Fundraising at Brisbane Central State School:

Congratulations and well done to Mathilda L, who with the support of her family, ran a bake sale last week to raise funds for CARE Australia  to support Syrian refugees . Mathilda raised over $456 !

The school will be holding a Free Dress Day and bake sale  on  Friday November 22,  to raise funds for families affected by the Philippines typhoon . Free Dress is a gold coin donation, and baked goods will be on sale from $1. My thanks to the student council and our baking families for running this fundraising venture.

Classes for 2014:

We are currently finalising our classes for next year, and anticipate that we will be able to release classes and teachers for 2014  by the end of the  2013 school year.

When composing classes for next year, we will be taking the following factors into consideration:

  • A balance of academic abilities across the classes of the year level;
  • A gender balance across the classes of the year level;
  • A balance across the classes of the year level in relation to social and behavioural factors;
  • The combinations/dynamics of the group of students.

There will be a number of multi-age (combined year level) and straight year level classes next year, as there was this year. The selection of students for either a multi-age class or a straight year level class will be based on the criteria stated above.  Should you have any questions or concerns about classes for next year, please discuss this with your child’s teacher in the first instance.

Fit n' Active

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Fit and Active will finish a week early.
Finish dates for Prep - Year 3 is the 27/11/13 and for the Years 4 - 7 it is the 02/12/13.
Thank you for your understanding.
