140th Celebration

Brisbane Central State School will commemorate 140 years with a Celebration Day at the School on Saturday the 5th of September.  BCSS celebrates a rich history and heritage which has in more recent times been characterised by the diverse multicultural student population. Students at the school come from a range of countries, cultural and language backgrounds.

Brisbane Central is a heritage-listed state school and one of Brisbane’s oldest primary schools. It was built in 1874 with classes officially beginning on the 25th of January 1875.  During the day, we will officially open our new classroom block which was originally the Infants School and in 2015 used again by the School.

The culturally diverse School community will be reflected by the range of international food stalls at the event – Chinese, Indian, French, Indonesian, Japanese and even the good old Aussie barbeque.

Rides and activities and entertainment for all ages.

Cook book and School History publications available for sale on the day.

The 140 year anniversary and community picnic is a FREE event open to all the community.

Where: Brisbane Central State School, Rogers Street, Spring Hill

When: Saturday, 5th September 2015, 10am – 3pm
