Random Act of Kindness: Kmart Wishing Tree

Throughout 2014, Brisbane Central State School has prioritised the importance of taking care of our community and those who are less fortunate than ourselves. In Term two, we joined together to raise funds to purchase 200 cuddly toys for children at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and in Term 3 Years 5, 6 & 7 raised hundreds of dollars for charity through their Kidpreneur Program. Through the gift of giving, we have decided to complete the year with another Random Act of Kindness.

On Friday, 31st of October (Week 4), Year 5/6 will be setting up a delicious Tasty Treat Café with loads of yummy biscuits, cakes and slices for sale. Our Goal is to raise enough money to purchase presents, which we can place underneath the Salvation Army Kmart Christmas Tree.

For more than 25 years, The Salvation Army has been working with Kmart to help families in need. With hundreds of thousands of Australians in need this Christmas, the Appeal aims to collect more than 500,000 gifts nationally.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia's largest Christmas gift appeal, having collected more than six million gifts since its inception in 1988. We are proud that the Appeal is now a Christmas tradition – not only for Kmart and The Salvation Army but for thousands of Australia's who donate each year.

We value your support and appreciate any donations you can make on the day. You can get involved by:

  • Donating a plate of delicious treats for our stall
  • Purchasing delicious treats from our ‘Tasty Treat’ café on Friday 31st October. (Before school, 1st break & after school)

We look forward to seeing you at the Tasty Treat Café!
